This was a project I took on as a labor of love. As a mechanic on this particular model of helicopter for several years, I wanted to create a model that was as accurate as I could make it. I created each piece using technical manuals we used for maintenance and my experience with actually disassembling and reassembling major components. When setting a tri-count limit for myself, I used Crytek’s MH-60 Blackhawk model’s highest level of detail (LOD) as a guide (20, 800 tris). Helicopters are found all over the video game landscape and I strove to take the level of detail to a new high.
